Basic Engineering / Functional Description

For the elaboration of the control sequences a graphic tool is applied, which follows the functional plan (acc. to DIN 40719, part 6) as well as the sequential function charts (acc. to IEC 1131-3). This formal description allows a smooth transition between the development phases analysis, draft and implementation.

The process sequence is described verbally characterized by its funtcional groups, single steps, control steps, forward switching conditions, interlockings and start conditions.

This form of decription has the particular advantage, that also personnel not being familiar with automation technology is enabled to understand and comprehend without problems the sequences and interdependences of the process technology.

At the same time this description can be incorporated into the operating manual. For this reason this type of functional description is usually preferred.
